Ignition is a high energy worship service that not only targets teens, but also involved them. Every Sunday morning at 11:00, area youth gather in the gym at Crosspoint Community Church for an intense time of worship, prayer, and teaching. Students participate in various ways, such as running the music, media, ushering, etc. Ignition is the perfect environment for teens who are bored, disenchanted or frustrated by church as usual. After all, it is "church, reimagined".
Every Wednesday night from 7-8:30, teens between the ages of 12-19 gather to wrestle with the subject matter that was introduced to them at Ignition just a few days earlier. Jr. High groups meet at the church and are adult-led, which the Sr. High groups meet in area homes and are student-led (and adult-coached). Once a month, each Cell Group participates in an "XP" (a faith experience) that will enrich their faith. We call them "Cell Groups" because they're constantly growing, splitting, and multiplying organically.
Central to our mission in Matchbox Student Ministries is the idea that being a Christian also means being a missionary. That means that we have an obligation (we call it a hunger) to reach out to a lost and broken world. What does it look like to live like Jesus did? Who could we show God's love and his gospel to that needs it the most? What would it look like to change our culture rather than simply adapting to it? These are the kinds of questions we ask because we strongly believe that being a follower of Christ means building his kingdom on earth; a cause that we're committed to above all else.
